The India Meteorological Department (IMD) released 24-hour rainfall data, Velankanni in Nagapattinam district recorded the highest rainfall in the state with 17cm, Nagappattinam recorded 15cm and Karaikal 14cm.

The IMD anticipates additional rain on Wednesday and has issued a ‘yellow alert’ for eight districts, warning of the likelihood of heavy rainfall in specific locations.
