Seven persons who had reportedly assaulted a minor girl sexually at the time of temple festivities in Vellakoil limits have been arrested by the Tiruppur rural police.
The girl was, on March 9, said to have been enticed to move to an isolated location by two persons with the promise of capturing her dance movements and uploading the video on social media. The duo had assaulted her sexually. On knowing about the happening, five other youth had also indulged in the assault.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Kangeyam All Women Police.
The accused: Manikandan (29), Prabakaran (32), Dineshkumar (28), Balasubramani (30), Navinkumar (26), Nandakumar (30) and Tamilselvan (28) were booked under POCSO Act and remanded in judicial custody at the Coimbatore Central Prison.
