Shivan Nair and Prasanna Kumari
Chennai: Kottayam couple from Erumeli was brutally murdered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on Sunday evening. The victims, identified as Shivan Nair, a Siddha doctor, and wife Prasanna Kumari, were residents of Muthapudupet, Avadi, Chennai.
It is believed that the assailants, posing as patients, gained entry into their residence and committed the murder. Neighbours, upon hearing disturbances from the couple's home, alerted the authorities. However, on arrival, the police found the bodies of Shivan Nair and Prasanna Kumari. The Muthapudupet police will probe the incident.
Preliminary findings suggest that approximately 100 sovereigns of gold ornaments were stolen from the couple's residence, indicating a possible motive of robbery behind the murders. Shivan Nair, a retired army officer, had settled in Chennai post his military service, where he operated a clinic adjacent to their residence. Prasanna Kumari, on the other hand, was a retired teacher.
