Orchids ‘flourish with huge flowers’ when given water from unusual kitchen ingredient – Express

Orchids are wild, delicate and exotic, but they also make surprisingly good houseplants due to them being easy to care for.
The most common is phalaenopsis – a beautiful orchid houseplant. They are known as moth orchids because the flowers grow on arching stems, making it appear as if a group of moths are flying away from the stems.
However, one thing owners might struggle with is getting their indoor plants to bloom.
Orchid flowers are well-known for lasting several months, but most only bloom once a year, if that.
While there are so many shop-bought orchid fertilisers on the market, the use of homemade fertilisers has become a popular topic amongst gardening enthusiasts.

However, some gardening enthusiasts seemed to be against this tip. Tanya Hardy said: “Just my opinion, but food items should stay in your kitchen and off your orchids. This is a recipe to invite unwanted rot and pests.”
