FIRE control was notified of a blaze at a property in Aley, near Nether Stowey, on Monday (April 15).
Three fire appliances from Nether Stowey and Bridgwater were dispatched to the scene along with a supporting officer at around 7pm.
After arriving, crews confirmed a kitchen fire, committing two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet to extinguish the flames.
At 7.33pm, four breathing apparatus were used to extinguish the fire within the ceiling from the kitchen and the loft space.
By 8.03pm, the breathing apparatus had been discontinued and crews exposed surfaces in the kitchen to identify any remaining hotspots using small tools.
The kitchen update showed that the fire caused 50 percent fire damage, 100 percent smoke to the kitchen and 90 percent smoke damage to the remainder of the building.
A fire investigation officer attended the scene and confirmed the fire to be accidental.
