Vandalism at the World Trade Center led to six arrests, police said.Portland Police Bureau
Protesters vandalized the World Trade Center in downtown Portland Thursday, scrawling messages about the Israel-Hamas conflict on windows, walls and brickwork and knocking glass doors out of their frame, police said.
Portland police arrested six people, including Parrish Johnson, 19; Eli McKenzie, 19; Sienna Otero, 21; Nathan Senters, 20; and Emily Vanderlyn, 33 – all of Portland. They variously face possible charges such as felony criminal mischief, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
Troy A. Hunter, 24, of Beaverton, also was arrested after a short chase. He was booked at the county jail on criminal mischief and escape charges, police said.
Protesters wrote messages on walls and windows, and damaged doors, police said.Portland Police Bureau
A group of protesters used the World Trade Center’s exterior elevator Thursday afternoon to reach the second floor of Building 2 and attempted to “force their way through locked doors into the building,” police said. They used red paint to write messages on windows and walls, including “Israel must be stopped” and “Free Palestine.”
Police arrived and called on the group to leave the property, and many did so without incident.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are possible, police said. The bureau asked anyone who has information about this incident to send an email to crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov.
